I recently bought a XF 3.0d S with 125k on the clock and with a "restricted performance" issue that I was hoping to fix. I got it cheap because of the restriction and couldn't pass up the offer. I am a mechanic by trade so know my way around some makes and models mostly year 2000's and prior and not to up to scratch with modern cars.

The restricted performance light would simply reset as soon as I could safely turn ignition key off and on again. The few times I did get an EMS light it would reset after a short time usually less than 24 hours. This problem became worse and eventually it started to occur whenever a lead boot was put on the throttle.
Currently there are now only 2 codes. P0191 (Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1) and P1338 (Fuel Pump drive circuit low/high voltage). Is this because I changed the fuel filter? Now the car is practically undriveable. Should I put the old fuel filter back on? What happened to the misfire codes?
8 Answers. SOURCE: Jaguar s-type restricted performance displayed. Its most likely the coils and spark plugs, sometimes caused by oil leaking from the valve cover gasket. The coils deteriorate over time from engine heat and need to be replaced at 90-100k.
1: Proposals made by the dealer to fix the problem get approved more readily and/or they get a quicker response from the area Tech Manager or whatever they are called. 2: A better courtesy car may well appear for you. Hope you get your cat fixed pronto. XF gone due to intransigence of Jaguar marketing.
